
International Workshop on “Energizing Higher Education – Renewable Energy for Economic Transition (e-REET)”
On December 15, ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐๐, ๐๐จ successfully organized an international project dissemination workshop at the Himalaya Drishya Resort, Dhulikhel. This event was part of the โ๐๐ป๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ด๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ฑ๐๐ฐ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป – ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฒ๐๐ฎ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ ๐๐ป๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ด๐ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐ผ๐บ๐ถ๐ฐ ๐ง๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป (๐ฒ-๐ฅ๐๐๐ง)โ project, a ๐ฐ๐ผ๐น๐น๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป between ๐๐จ and the ๐๐ป๐๐๐ถ๐๐๐๐ฒ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ง๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ต๐ป๐ผ๐น๐ผ๐ด๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ผ๐๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ถ๐ป ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ง๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฆ๐๐ฏ๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ (๐๐ง๐ง), ๐ง๐ ๐รถ๐น๐ป, ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป๐, ๐ณ๐๐ป๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฑ by the ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐บ๐ถ๐ฐ ๐๐ ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฎ๐ป๐ด๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ (๐๐๐๐).
The workshop began with an opening remarks by ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ณ. ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐บ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ฟ๐ฎ ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ง๐ ๐รถ๐น๐ป, who provided a comprehensive overview of the e-REET project. He highlighted the projectโs vision of strengthening academia by integrating renewable energy into higher education, aligning academic programs with economic transition goals and fostering collaboration between institutions. ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ณ. ๐ฆ๐๐ป๐ถ๐น ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ฎ๐ฑ ๐๐ผ๐ต๐ฎ๐ป๐ถ, ๐น๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฑ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐๐ at KU, elaborated on the outcomes of the project, including the development of specialized curricula, university partnerships and enhanced student and faculty exchange programs. These initiatives aim to create a skilled workforce capable of addressing global renewable energy challenges. ๐๐๐ฎ๐ป ๐ฅ๐ผ๐ฑ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ด๐๐ฒ๐ of TH Kรถln presented his research on ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ฝ๐๐ฟ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ฏ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ผ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ ๐ถ๐ป๐ถ-๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฑ๐ ๐ถ๐ป ๐ฅ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐: ๐๐ป๐ฎ๐น๐๐๐ถ๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ฃ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ฎ๐น ๐ฆ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ด๐ถ๐ฒ๐. Using comparative case studies from Nepal and Mali, he discussed innovative approaches such as hybridization and repurposing strategies to address the challenge of underutilized mini-grids. ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐๐ถ ๐ฆ๐๐๐ฎ๐น, a Ph.D. scholar from RSEL, KU, shared his work on theย ๐ฆ๐ผ๐น๐ฎ๐ฟ ๐ง๐๐ป๐ป๐ฒ๐น ๐๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฆ๐๐๐๐ฒ๐บ. He highlighted its benefits for small-scale farmers, particularly in reducing post-harvest losses and enhancing the value chain for agricultural products. The workshop concluded with an ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐ฑ๐ถ๐๐ฐ๐๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป among participants, focusing on enhancing renewable energy curricula, developing joint courses and fostering deeper collaborations between universities globally.
These discussions set the stage for future initiatives to bridge gaps in renewable energy education and research.
