Successfully organized International Workshop on Research-based Education for Renewable and Sustainable Energy Development
Renewable and Sustainable Energy Laboratory (RSEL), Kathmandu University, recently organized a two-day international workshop on ‘Research/Problem-Based Education for Renewable and Sustainable Energy Development’, in collaboration with the University of South-Eastern Norway (USN), University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ), Sri Lanka, and Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Bangladesh. The main aim of the workshop was to bring different professionals working in the renewable and sustainable energy field from academia, government, non-government and private sectors in one place and intensely discuss and share experiences on the opportunities and challenges of renewable and sustainable energy development, technology transfer, and possible ways to strengthen research-based education emphasizing the circular economy. Field Visit to Small-scale Mushroom and Bee farm
On 21st October 2022, Prof. Dr. Ramchandra Bhandari (ITT, TH Köln) and Prof. Dr. Sunil Prasad Lohani (Lead-RSEL, KU) along with their research team updated on the e-REET project progress and had a discussion on way forward for successful conduction of the project. The team had extensive discussions on how the research project could contribute for energy-intensive agriculture sector in Nepal. The project partners with their team also visited a small-scale Mushroom farm and Bee farm located at Sangha, Dhulikhel. Curriculum exchange discussion and Review Workshop (e-REET)
The 2 days workshop on – “energizing higher education-Renewable Energy for Economic Transition (e-REET)” on October 20 – 21, 2022, organized by Institute of Technology and Resources Management in the tropics and Subtropics (ITT), TH Köln, Germany, and Kathmandu University (KU), Nepal has been successfully conducted. Successfully organized ForHimSDG Workshop
The 3 days’ workshop named ‘Strengthening Teaching on Sustainable Development Goals: Curriculum co-development workshop’, shortly ForHimSDG, dated on July 26-28, 2022, has been successfully conducted, which was organized by Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (Germany), Asian Institute of Technology (Thailand), and Kathmandu University (Nepal). The workshop was attended by 50 participants representing from 12 different countries namely Germany, Austria, Sweden, UK, Thailand, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Bhutan, Afghanistan (online), Myanmar (online) and Nepal. Webinar Series on Domestic Bio-gas Plant (GGC 2047)
On 28th September 2021, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Laboratory (RSEL) organized a webinar to discuss on Household Biogas focusing particularly on issues GGC-2047 model. The webinar had participants from various stakeholders of the energy sector. In this webinar, Dr Lohani discussed about the lack of proper infrastructure and research funds to further explore issues pertaining to the bio-gas sector of Nepal. He strongly highlighted the indifference of the current stakeholder eco-system – especially emphasized the lack of critical study in biogas sector – and appealed to the stakeholders to collaborate to further bio-gas sector in Nepal. .
